DISCLOSURE

The contents of this Web site are generally suitable for individuals who are young adults or older.  However, articles that analyze crime statistics or deal with survival realities may abrade certain preconceived notions or offend some political sensitivities.

PRIVACY STATEMENT (SCN site)

Your privacy and security are important.  The server for this Web site does not place anything on your system, or extract anything from it, without your platform's consent.  “Platform consent” is determined by your system settings and personal preferences (e.g., your firewall and browser).  Frequently review these settings and adjust them as needed.

The Webhost for this site enjoys a good reputation in the Internet community, but its actions are outside the Webmaster's control.  Most assuredly the Webmaster has no intention of abusing reasonable expectations concerning your personal privacy and security.

Privacy and security consequences also result from visitor actions.  Your online choices and interactive behavior influence platform consent.

Neither the Webmaster, the document owners or any other content authors have access to the server log.  This site itself : a) does not use cookies, spyware, adware or Active-X applications, b) does not rely on potentially harmful or abusive applets for navigation, presentation or support, c) does not use trackers or counters except for a Webhost proprietary counter of page hits, d) does not involve third party traffic unless you use the handy seach engine feature at the top of some pages, and e) does not reveal personally identifying information of site visitors to anyone.  These conditions apply only if you navigate here directly rather than via a URL redirect, which may handle your privacy and security differently.

The Webmaster participates in several affiliate programs that are consistent with the Mission Statement of this Web site, and endorses them in varying degrees.  The links in question identify only the referring affiliate (yours truly) and are found only on the Helpful Resources page.

In general, e-mail to the Webmaster is treated only as the correspondent indicates.  It is not retained any longer than needed, is not released to anyone except as may be required by law, and is not used for sales or marketing purposes.  (The Webmaster's commercial Web site is a strictly separate operation.)  E-mail subscriptions, when offered, fully comply with the requirements of the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 (Public Law 108-187).  Subscription mailouts may originate from a different server, but are given the same privacy and security treatment that applies here.

Links to offsite resources lie outside the privacy and security atmosphere of this site.  A reasonable effort has been made to ensure that the contents and behavior of offsite destinations are appropriate and consistent with the theme of this site.  However, because of the dynamic nature of the Internet, site ownerships, contents and technical behavior frequently change.  The Webmaster of this site is not responsible for visitor interactions with offsite destinations.

If you have significant concerns about online privacy and security, then at the very least you should avoid any Internet software application that exhibits excessive security vulnerabilities or exploits.  Although no application is 100% safe, some have better reputations than others.  See, for example, the free Open Source Internet software applications from Mozilla.  Firefox can be used for Web browsing, and Thunderbird can be used for e-mail, newsgroups and RSS newsfeeds.  Note, however, the privacy concerns expressed by Public Information Research, Inc. about Mozilla's relationship with Google in the ongoing development of Firefox.]

PROBLEMS

In case of any problem involving this site, whether it involves a dead link or objectionable content or behavior, please immediately contact the Webmaster.
