The invasion of Iraq was miltarily successful. Is the Peace Movement's job over? No. Unfortunately the [illegal and unjustified] invasion of Iraq was not an aberration but "business as usual." The amazing activist networks that we constructed around the world within weeks must continue to be active.

The US now spends more on the military than the rest of the world combined. Our response to war and militarism is not just a concern for "activists", it is a concern for all Americans who care about America and the America that it can be. Think about it!

Stop Bush Seattle!

Another view: "Honestly, I think we should just trust our president in every decision that he makes and we should just support that."

Bush mentioned vast quantities of chemical weapons in Iraq. How come not a single gram has been found?? Somebody was fudging on the truth?

US to Employ "Shock and Awe" Strategy
See these articles: 800 missiles to hit Iraq in first 48 hours and Iraq Faces Massive U.S. Missile Barrage. The idea of "shock and awe" comes from the book "Shock and Awe: Achieving Rapid Dominance" by Harlan K. Ullman and James P. Wade.

"The intent here is to impose a regime of Shock and Awe through delivery of instant, nearly incomprehensible levels of massive destruction directed at influencing society writ large, meaning its leadership and public, rather than targeting directly against military or strategic objectives even with relatively few numbers or systems. The employment of this capability against society and its values, called "counter-value" in the nuclear deterrent jargon, is massively destructive strikes directly at the public will of the adversary to resist and, ideally or theoretically, would instantly or quickly incapacitate that will over the space of a few hours or days."     (from Chapter 2)

The Bush White House has an "opinion" line. The line accepts calls from 9-5 EST, Monday through Friday. Call 202-456-1111. A machine will detain you briefly; then a live operator will ask you to say "I oppose" or "I approve." It will take only a few minutes. The president has said that he wants to know what the American people are thinking. Tell him.

Although we are stunned and horrifed at the tragic events on September 11, 2001 in New York and Washington, we -- like many others -- are gravely concerned that the administration's response, in their haste for justice, could result in more tragic loss of life, more innocent lives taken. What should we do??

A commitment to peace with justice is the surest path to genuine security in the United States and elsewhere. America is strongest when it's following its best ideals, not when engaged in unwarranted retribution.

The world wants justice through legal means, not through military action! (Check the latest Gallup Poll for global survey results)

Contact your Elected Officials!

It is important now to send a message to all elected officials that we in Seattle and elsewhere want justice, but "justice" that compounds the tragedy of wasted human lives is not justice.

"If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favour freedom and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without ploughing up the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning; they want the ocean without the awful roar of its mighty waters."
