Get Involved!

Contributing to an organization is great way to network, learn new jobskills and help create opportunities to promote women in computing. AWC has various volunteer committees that need your help. Each of the committees listed below requires a different level of time commitment and knowledge. Please consider participating in one or more? Interested? Please contact awc@scn.org for details and put the committee name (e.g. website committee) in the subject line.

The Program Committee not only determines our monthly topics but also arranges for speakers. If you have ideas and/or contacts in the industry, this is the committee for you!

The Website Committee maintains our site, publishes the monthly newsletter, and increases the site functionality. If you are looking to increase your web skill, sign up for this committee.

The Hospitality Committee is chaired Hospitality Chair on the AWC/PS Board. This group helps new members and visitors feel welcome at our meetings. It's a great way to improve your networking skills, meet new people and help increase our membership.

The Directory Committee publishes the annual membership directory. The work involves importing data from our database, assembling information, designing the format, soliciting for advertising and distributing the directory. The committee starts work on this publication in October and distributes it January. It is a great way to get involved without a long-term commitment.

The Membership Committee, chaired by the Membership Vice President, who maintains the list of members for our chapter. This committee helps with the renewal campaign.

The Job Network Committee, chaired by the Job Network Chair, informs members about career opportunities in the Seattle area. This is a good match for someone with recruiting skills and/or contacts.

The Finance Committee is chaired by the Treasurer. As a non-profit organization with limited income, we must carefully plan our budget. This committee is responsible for those tasks.

The Bylaws Committee is chaired by the AWC/PS Secretary. This group maintains existing bylaws and recommends changes.

The AWC/PS Board of Directors is a great way to become involved. The commitment for a board member is the entire membership year (July - June). We have positions for many skillsets. Recruitment for the board begins in March. Contact us for details!
