Nonviolence Training Calendar
(vers. November 27, 1999, Seattle)This calendar is compiled as a service to those who plan to protest the injustices of the World Trade Organization, and who are committed to nonviolent methods. It will focus on:
General Nonviolence Trainings - theory and practice of nonviolence, methods for de-escalating potential violent situations at demonstrations, communication skills, etc.
Skills for Civil Disobedience - if there is a chance of being arrested, information and skills for effective, nonviolent actions, including possible consequences, legal information, and more.
Peacekeeper Training - for the people taking on the responsibility for keeping demonstrations safe, effective, nonviolent; for example, directing pedestrian flow safely around vehicles.
Training for Trainers - learning how to facilitate the types of training sessions above.
Legal Observer Training. Protection of rights by watching, deterring and/or documenting any abuse of power. See also the website of the National Lawyers' Guild http://www.nlg.org/wto
