An experiment in telepathic communication utilizing ouija-like
tools. The project is scheduled to commence on or about the Autumnal
Equinox on Thursday, 23 September 1999, at midnight EST.
Required:
- a planchette or pointer tool (an old coin, upturned cup, etc.)
- lettered cards or a board lettered with the Latin alphabet or a
phonetic equivalent
(an
extremely simple version of the witchboard)
- On-line real-time communications access, via java-enabled
chatrooms (found on yahoo!,
egroups,
etc.) or IRC/ICQ.
The Project involves a "warm-up" period of a week or
more; after gathering the necessary tools (above) each participant is
instructed to use the board nightly, noting the first movement of the
pointer and any resulting letter combinations before an attempt at
literated telepathy with the designated senders.
Suggested criteria include simple letter-by-letter transmission my
sender to receivers, and varied "links", such as colors worn
by all participants, or candles of a specific hue in the working area
to enhance transmission.
Current list of participants (last update 990921):
Send mail to all of the OUIJAVOX
participants.
At no more than two days prior to the first experiment,
"senders" and "receivers" will be selected from
the participants at random. The senders will select a word or short
sentence which will be transmitted to the receivers, one letter at a
time, over & over again, for a period of no less than 10 minutes.
The first experiment protocol has been suggested:
- A SENDER is selected randomly from participants, all others will
RECEIVE.
- Chat commences, to facillitate realtime communication
- All go off-line for 23 minutes, during which time the SENDER
repeats the chosen word which is chosen randomly from a
dictionary, letter by letter, while RECEIVERS utilize their OUIJA
tools, recording results.
- Back online, results are exchanged, and the protocol for the
second experiment is decided upon.
See the results of the trials here.
