Miller Homestead
2432 148th Ave SE
The three original log structures were built by homesteader Hans Miller. In 1884 he built the small first log cabin. Several years later he built the log barn. In 1895, the same year in which the deed to the land was issued to him from the United States government, he built a larger log cabin to
replace the small cabin as the family home. Through the years, this later cabin has undergone many alterations and evolved to its present state as the Robinswood House. However, the original logs are still visible in the interior of the structure.
This site shows the transformation of an early homestead into a relatively modern estate and, since 1971, a park. The first log cabin is one of very few in the Bellevue area that is in good condition and in its original location.
The buildings relate to the study unit themes of agriculture and architecture and are important because of their age and integrity of location. Despite minor changes and repair, the two log buildings retain their original character. Although the main house has been substantially altered, it is important as part of the
original Miller Homestead. Today, the Robinswood House is used for meetings, weddings, and other events and provides an important link with Bellevue's past.
