Fraser House

13204 SE 8th

This log cabin, one of Bellevue's oldest structures, was built in 1888 by two Norwegian woodsmen named Olsen and Ferguson. It was built on property in the Northup area, now approximately Northup Way and 124th NE. Daniel William Fraser, the original owner of the land and cabin, was an early resident and pioneer of the Bellevue area.

The cabin was built for Fraser's sister, Fanny, when she was married. Fanny and Steven Rathbun lived in the honeymoon cottage for several months before moving to Massachusetts. The cabin was located a half mile from the main house, and it was used a storage barn after the Rathbuns moved.

In the 1940s the cabin was moved to the corner of 126th NE and NE 7th. It was moved to the present site in Kelsey Creek Community Park by the Bellevue Parks Department in 1974. A garden with plants commonly used in the early 1900s was added to area surrounding the cabin.

The cabin relates to the study unit themes of agriculture and architecture. The cabin retains its basic appearance and integrity despite the fact that it has been moved.
