Stevenson House
9501 NE 1st Street
Estimates of the date of this Shingle Style house range from 1904 to 1913. This house is one of the oldest in this area of West Bellevue, and it retains a great deal of its original character.
The home was purchased by Charlotte Davis in about 1919-1920. She married Harry V. Stevenson in 1921, and the home remained in the family until after Mr. Stevenson's death in 1969. In 1970-1971, his daughter Marilyn Carlton sold the house to architect Jim Bryant.
Architect, Jim Bryant, made some changes to the house, including the addition of skylights and a new roof. He built a residence between this house and Lake Washington Boulevard, cutting off the view of the lake. The property, which originally extended to Lake Washington Boulevard, was subsided at that time.
From 1978-1984, it was owned by William T. Knudsen. The current owners, Kermit and Victoria Anderson, purchased the house in 1984.
The Stevenson House relates to the study unit theme of architecture. It is one of the oldest houses in this area and has changed very little since its construction.
