Results of Summer Survey
September 2, 2000

Thanks everybody for returning the surveys. The results will guide this year’s programming.

I assigned 1 for interested, 0 for maybe, and -1 for not interested. Some people checked in between or checked two boxes so we ended up with some .5s. Here are the rankings and my notes:

Heidi will lead us at the September meeting. (use of beaded tassels, beaded buttons, beaded button covers, beaded fringe, etc.)

Amy could bring Japanese vest with the piped on-edge buttonholes from Lois Erickson's book. This topic could be combined with edge finishes. Donna Clarke wrote that Daytime Wearables had low attendance, but Nan Miller wants them to try it again and wrote that Daytime Wearables needs a good demonstration.

Here are people's other ideas:

Idea
Remarks
Revision Revue - bring garments & get ideas! Bring recycled garments to show how ready-to-wear can become a work of art. Bring finished garments and works-in-progress for advice, or to serve as a warning for others. Alterations & remodeling.
Swap Meet - my lost causes may be your treasures! Could combine with another topic
Inkblot painting Candy Cox or Joanne Schoner would be willing to teach this
Follow "Complex Cloth" in monthly steps and end up with a great piece of fabric We could start with hand-dyed fabric, make our own stamps, then stencil
Felted knitted hats Was successful for Daytime Wearables.
Outrageous hats
Other hats
Invite a clothing designer to bring garments to try on Was successful for Daytime Wearables, with a designer invited by Gaynel Kline.
Coordinating Full Ensembles
Bringing traditional ethnic styles into the 21st century
Simple Jacket Style Larkin would be happy to teach this – she learned it from Cindy.
Create an atmosphere that attracts around 12 enthusiastic people to each meeting, not necessarily emphasizing finishing projects, but people excited about trying new things
Opportunity to exhibit (as a group) in addition to, or in a different venue than, the May General Meeting Fashion Show
Fairfield Video This would be at least the third annual.
Beaded bracelets, beaded edging Larkin would be willing to teach

We have nine meetings. We could program some of the high-ranking items plus some of the other ideas. We could do edge finishes & closures relatively late, i.e. just before the May fashion show. We could cover some topics with handouts for those who are interested instead of devoting meeting time.

The possibilities are limitless!
