Round Robin Jacket, "The Kerbau Ride"
The focus fabric was a batik panel depicting four people riding on a
water buffalo. I packed my box with old kimono silks, quilting prints,
gingham, stripes, a tablecloth, beads, rickrack, etc. to match. The buttons
were provided by Jane Schreven on commission to match the batik panel on
the back. Elaine Emineth embellished the right front, including this cluster
of hanging beads. Dana Bontrager embellished the left front, including
the word "Kerbau", which is an Indonesian word for "water buffalo" (courtesy
of Janine Hunt, who used to live in Indonesia).

Janine Hunt set the tone for the project by placing the batik panel
askew and crazy quilting the rest of the back. Linda Hill embellished the
left sleeve, with some interesting tucked stripes and Giselle Blythe embellished
the right sleeve with bugle beads around the central block.

Here's a closeup of Janine's enhancements on the batik panel -- look
at the tail!

I finished the jacket with a red collar and black and white piping.
Thanks to all the artists who contributed! I've proudly worn the jacket to work, to a party, and to cultural events.
