New Saturday Classes:
Twined False
Embroidery Pouch
with Sue Marvin
Saturday, June 7, 9:30-4:30 at the PNNAG office
This basket is woven with narrow cedar bark
spokes and Northwest sweetgrass twining. We will use wool yarn in a
variety of colors and a technique called false embroidery to weave
in a figural pattern on the basket. The basket has a false
braid rim and is embellished with cedar cordage. The class
sample is approximately 2"x 2-1/2". Students should be able to
finish this size in class. Those who choose may make a larger size,
roughly 4 1/4"x 5" with the understanding that they will finish
outside of class time. The teacher will bring graphed designs
or you may choose to work up your own design ahead of time.
Class fee: $32.00 members, $37.00 non-members.
Kit fee: small size $16.00, large size $20.00
Kit fee to be paid to the instructor during class.
Flat Pattern Making
with Gloria Young
Saturday, May 3, 10:00 to 3:00 at
the PNNAG office
Flat pattern making is
the process of using a basic pattern made out of tag board (called a
sloper) to create clothing patterns of one's own design. In this class,
students will use a quarter scale sloper to learn a few of the
fundamentals of pivoting and converting darts, and adding seam lines and
yokes
to create new design lines in a bodice. Class is limited to eight
students, so sign up early!
Class fee: $30 for members; $35 for non-members and a $2 kit fee to
be paid to the instructor during class.
For members,
registration forms are in the newsletter. Others may request
registration information by calling (206)282-2666.
