1891
Upon Issac's death, Isabel Bechtel succeeded her husband as postmistress. After Isabel's retirement, William Ivey became postmaster and used his own home as the post office
The Cheriton Fruit Gardens tract, on the site of the present Bellevue Square, was platted by
D. M. Shanks.
1892
Captain John Anderson operated a fleet of steamers on Lake Washington and began the first scheduled ferry service to Bellevue with the C.C. Calkins.
The two-room Bellevue Main Street School with bell tower was erected on the southeast corner of 100th NE and Main Street.
Bellevue's first doctor, Charles Martin, began practicing.
Medina was named by Mrs. Sam Belote after the holy city of Arabia.
1893
Panic of 1893---a nationwide financial depression.
1894
The first Japanese immigrants arrived. They worked logging and clearing the land for farming.
1897
Klondike Gold Rush
