Lakeside Drugs

10215 Main Street

This retail building was built next to the Bellevue State Bank in 1930. Originally it housed Bellevue's first chain store, Washington Mutual Grocery, and later Eba's Mutual Grocery and Burrows Meat Market. It served as a civil defense headquarters during World War II. Lakeside Drugs continued to operate at this location until it closed in 1979. At that time, it was Bellevue's oldest continuously operating business.

This building reflects the original character of the Old Bellevue/Main Street business district. It relates to the study unit theme of commerce. This building was identified as of secondary importance in a 1986 survey of Old Bellevue by Chronicles and Design cultural resources consultant Michael Sullivan.
