Daugherty Store
Coffee Mill Building

10047 Main Street

Constructed in 1916 by Thomas D. Daugherty, this is one of the earliest extant buildings in Bellevue's old Main Street commercial district. It served for several years as a grocery store operated by Mr. Daugherty. In 1921, Charles LeWarne moved his hardware store here from smaller quarters down the street.

From 1940-1954 the building housed Bellevue Hardware. For several years, the structure served as the Grange Hall. It was subsequently used as a florist shop. Coffee Mill was the name of the second-hand store in the basement in the 1960s. Today, the building houses Main Street Mountain Bikes.

Similar to other structures in this area of Main Street, this building reflects the original character of the old Bellevue business district. It relates to the study unit theme of commerce. It is also one of the buildings that has retained much of its integrity and historic character. This building was identified as of secondary importance in a 1986 survey of Old Bellevue by Chronicles and Design cultural resources consultant Michael Sullivan.
