Bellevue Nursery

842 104th Avenue SE

This Bellevue Nursery is the oldest nursery currently operating in Bellevue. It was started in 1954 by Muromoto and Hiroshi Mizokawa.

The nursery first opened as a Christmas tree stand because the building was not completed, but by the spring of the 1955, it had become a full-scale nursery. The Mizokawas operated the nursery for 30 years, selling it in 1984 to Walt and Myrna Smith. Mr. Smith sold the business to his son Ken in 1988.

The original building has undergone some remodeling, and a greenhouse was added onto the north side, but it retains much of its original appearance. The Bellevue Nursery relates to the study unit theme of commerce. It is included in this survey because of its historical role in the community, not its architecture.
