Procedures for Mac Users - opening OpenMe.htm
You will need browser software, such as Netscape Communicator or Internet Explorer to
open this file, which contains the Table of Contents of the "Voices of Conscience on
Iraq" resource disc.
Viewing Resources on this Disc
You will need multimedia software, such as Windows Media Player, to play video (WMV) and audio (MP3) files.
If you do not have Windows Media Player, you can download a free copy at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp
When you click on OpenMe.htm and access the Table of Contents, WMV files will
appear as code rather than as video.
There are two procedures you may follow, depending on how much space you have
available on your hard disc.
If you already know that you don't have 640 megabytes available, skip to #2.
1. Create a folder on your hard disc called "Voices" and drag the Contents folder and
OpenMe.htm into the new folder. If you learn that you don't have sufficient room on
your hard drive, skip to #2.
a. Open Windows Media Player (WMP).
b. From WMP, open each of the WMV (video) files to view.
c. After first viewing, these files will be saved as WMV files and will be accessible
through the Table of Contents provided within OpenMe.htm.
d. This completes the process of installing your "Voices of Conscience on Iraq"
resource disc on your Mac.
2. For those with not enough disc space to copy the entire contents of your "Voices of
Conscience on Iraq" resource disc, you will need to read files off the disc.
a. Open Windows Media Player (WMP).
b. From WMP, open each individual WMV file type.
c. These files will not be converted since the CD is read-only. Therefore, the Table of
Contents will not function for WMV file types, but may be used to access audio clips,
PDF files, and links to resources on the Internet.
Tips for PC users
If you have trouble viewing the video files, please go to "help page" on the CD and make sure that you have the latest version of Windows Media Player or Real Player installed.
When playing video on computers you may experience a delay before seeing the picture as the computer may take a few seconds to buffer.
