City officials Sunday night stated that the danger of any further rising of the waters at the Cedar dam at this time seems to be past. Though the water behind the lower masonry dam was heightened during Sunday morning by the over flow from the old dam, it started to recede at noon Sunday. The rains in the mountain in the vicinity have stopped.
The waters of Rattlesnake lake showed a lowering also at 6 p. m. Sunday, when the elevation showed at 910.6, against an elevation of 910.7 at 8 a. m. Sunday. The overflow here, however, proved too much for the culverts under the tracks of the Everett branch of the Chicago, Milwuakee & St. Paul to carry and the tracks for a distance of 100 feet were inundated. No damage has yet been done to the roadbed. A carlod of gravel is held there by the railroad in readiness to strengthen any weakness which may show in the roadbed.
