Skagit & Snohomish Counties Diversity Task Force Meeting
Wednesday, October 31, 2001

The meeting was held at Verizon and called to order by Paula Plummer, meeting host.

1. Introductions and announcements

2. Paula introduced Rochelle Crollard, Director-Human Resources, Everett Clinic, as the guest speaker. Rochelle shared the Everett Clinic's Diversity Training; Promoting a Respectful Workplace.

3. Recruitment exchange - resumes were shared with the attendees as well as job opportunity announcements.

4. Future Direction of the Group - The attendees shared topics they would like discussed in future meetings:

· Sharing best practices for diversity
· Recruiting/hiring/retention/managing employees
· Invite representatives to speak from various diverse communities and ask these representatives questions on how might we better recruit to these communities? What are we doing right? Wrong? Educate us on what geographic areas we should be targeting. 
· Reach out to the Black, Latino, and Indian communities. Better understand where their resources and how we can connect with those resources.
· Rita Wright will invite representatives from the local Refuge Forum group to speak at an upcoming meeting.
· Cindy Blocker requested companies considered mentorship programs for newly hired employees.
· Discussion about future meeting locations and tie ethnic food served with a diversity or cultural celebration for that month.

5. Announcements 

· Live Resumes - A reminder that Chad Sheldon is the coach/coordinator for "Live Resumes" and welcomes any interested participants whom the task force members know may want to present their resume to the group.
· Meeting Facilitators - Monthly meeting hosts will also serve as that month's meeting facilitators and will also record the meeting minutes. The next meeting is scheduled for November 28 and will be held in Everett at Fluke Corporation and hosted by Kelly Roberts.
