1997 Auction Huge Success

Over 250 people attended the third annual Houses for Play Auction benefiting Seattle Habitat for Humanity on November 16. Through their generosity, over $80,000 was raised to help Seattle Habitat continue to provide decent affordable housing. Seattle Mariners catcher, Dan Wilson and his wife Annie, representing local charity First Place, hosted the event.

Three rounds of silent auctions, with over 150 items were held before dinner was served and the live auction began. Auctioneer Kip Toner conducted the auction, helping to sell over 50 larger items including numerous trips, Sonics and Mariners suites, a Caribbean cruise, and as always, children's playhouses. One special playhouse was auctioned off to the collective audience for over $5000, with the proceeds benefiting Seattle Habitat and the playhouse going to the children of First Place.

A special thanks is extended to auction organizers David Dehlendorf and Alma Barton, who spent hundreds of hours getting this event up and running. Another round of thanks goes off to all of the volunteers who helped to make the auction the success it was.
