Top 10 Volunteer Needs for Winter

1. The Finance Committee- Recruiting bankers, investment specialists, & people with financial & nonprofit experience.

2. The Site Selection Committee- Looking for Real Estate professionals, developers, city planners, & Construction professionals to research properties & determine the ‘buildability’ of lots.

3. Skilled Crew Leaders- Seeking volunteers with professional building experience, and interest in teaching & leading small crews of 4-5 volunteers at worksites Weds., Fri., & Sat.

4. Weekday Worksite Volunteers- Recruiting general & semi-skilled volunteers to work Wednesdays and/or Fridays 8:45-4pm at our building sites.

5. The Construction Committee- Looking for vols. with good organization skills willing to procure donations of construction materials, help set-up & manage a warehouse, & coordinate construction schedules. Also recruiting volunteers with a pick-up truck and 1 day a week to pick-up donations or transport supplies to construction sites.

6. The Volunteer Committee- Seeking 3 volunteers to support the volunteer program by placing volunteers, entering volunteer data, & planning a volunteer recognition event.

7. Office Volunteers- Seeking vols. willing to commit to 4 hour blocks of time a minimum of once a week in the office helping with reception, mailings, word processing, & special projects.

8. The PR Committee- Seeking Public Relations & Marketing professionals willing to write press releases, promotional materials, and newsletter articles.

9. Public Presentations- Recruiting 10-15 vols. interested in making public presentations & coordinating Volunteer Orientations.

10. Interns- Looking for 2-4 students interested in internship opportunities, which range from researching sustainable building materials to leading outreach programs in schools.

The best way to learn more about Seattle Habitat and our volunteer opportunities is to attend one of our bi-monthly Volunteer Orientations. Orientations give an overview of Seattle Habitat, our mission, current projects, and ways to volunteer. We also go over Work Crew Safety information and distribute Gold Cards once individuals have signed a Waiver of Liability.

ORIENTATION DATE & TIMES: Orientations are held on the 2nd Wednesday at 6pm & the last Thursday at 7pm of each month.

* Note: Thursday orientation in & Dec. has been canceled in observance of the holidays. LOCATION: All orientations are held in the basement Fellowship Hall of St. Patrick’s Church, located at 2702 Broadway E.
