HABITAT CLASSIFIEDS

HELP WANTED: To learn more about these opportunities, please attend one of our regularly scheduled Volunteer Orientations held twice a month or one of our 3 midday orientations held this spring.

Warehouse volunteers needed immediately to organize and inventory donated goods. Knowledge of construction materials and experience with inventory programs a plus. Positions open weekdays.

PR professionals sought to write and distribute press releases. Benefits include fun committee environment. Position involves 1-2 hour weekly commitment.

Family Partners sought for new homeowner families. Work one-on-one with family throughout planning and construction. Position lasts six months to one year, and includes a monthly committee meeting.

Seeking creative and enthusiastic volunteers to help build and coordinate our volunteer recognition program.

Seeking summer interns for special projects.

Attention: volunteers with weekdays available: Seeking office volunteers to support staff and committees. Asking for a once a week, 4 hour time commitment.

Did you always win at Monopoly? If so, please check out our Site Selection committee which locates lots and determines their 'buildability.' Seeking volunteers with real estate, development, construction, or city planning experience.

Volunteer sought to coordinate a homeowner workshop on real estate and closing documents for September, 1999. Volunteer would work with Family Services Department and Family Partnering Committee to develop and implement a workshop. Real estate and teaching experience a plus.

Work with homeowners on budgeting and saving money. Volunteer sought to develop and teach two workshop sessions on budgeting & saving in Summer and Fall, 1999. Volunteer must have working knowledge of practical ways to save money and an ability to teach. Minimum 5-10 hours commitment with optional attendance at Family Partnering Committee monthly meetings.

Do you know how to sheetrock, frame, or hang cabinets? Would you be willing to teach others? If so, please join us as a Crew Leader on our construction sites. Crew Leaders improve the learning and flow of construction. A minimum 8 hour commitment is necessary, but if you can give more, great!

* ITEMS WANTED *

We have a huge warehouse and are anxious to fill it with construction materials and tools. Please see article and wish list in this newsletter.

We need more hard drives! With the help of gifts from IBM and GTE, we are upgrading our computer network and find we need 1G or larger drives for our donated computers. If you can help, call 292-5240.


The Seattle Habitat Office is still in need of swivel office chairs, Pentium computers, a laser printer and a copier.

Big T-shirt sale. All white short-sleeved t-shirts are on sale at the Seattle Habitat Office. Sizes L, XL, and XXL. A bargain at only $6 per shirt. Stop by the office, or call us and we will mail to you for an extra $3. We also have Every One of Us Deserves a Home, an original cassette tape by Mike Stern ($10 plus $3 for mailing).

LOST & FOUND

We still have a black London Fog rain- coat that was left at our November auction. Hard to imagine someone living in Seattle without their raincoat! Call Arlene at 292-5240 if it's yours.

HAVE AN AFFAIR WITH SEATTLE HABITAT

The Auction Committee is seeking volunteers for the fifth annual event. Procurement experience, event planning, or a generally great and enterprising attitude suggested.
