NORTHWEST ARTISTS BAND TOGETHER TO From Deems to Duffy Bishop, more than a dozen popular Northwest jazz artists have contributed their favorite tracks to The House That Music Built, a special compilation CD produced by Nextel, the nation's leading provider of fully integrated wireless communications for business. "Everyone deserves a foundation of safe, decent housing from which to raise their families and contribute to their communities," said Karen Little, president of Nextel's Pacific Northwest operations. "We're proud to lead this effort." Nextel will sponsor a Seattle Habitat home in White Center, with construction beginning this summer, as well as a Habitat home in Portland, Oregon. The company expects to raise more than $60,000 through CD sales, with local business partners donating additional funds, materials, and labor. Nextel has also donated phones and service to the Seattle and Portland affiliates to use at the building sites through the end of the year 2000. Available for purchase now, "The House That Music Built" is a great way to enjoy popular local music and support our mission. For every sale of the $11.95 CD, all proceeds (not including shipping and handling) will support the construction of the Nextel homes in Seattle and Portland.
