Operation Shore Patrol

2009 Event

September 19, 2009

Plan to join us next year on September 19th for another worthwhile project. Meet at Ocean City State Park, Ocean Shores, Washington on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. to register. Camping is free in the park on Friday and Saturday nights for Shore Patrol volunteers. There are also several motels in town.

To signup please email Lois so that we will have an estimate as to how many will be attending. We will meet in the right hand loop as you enter the park. There will be a covered table with the signup sheets. Be sure and sign on the Telephone Pioneers page as we join with several other groups in this effort. Hosted by the 4-Wheelers, we have done this project for many years. Bring your family, friends and neighbors.

Why It Matters

Like all grassroots movements, the success depends on the participation of caring individuals like you. Just consider the impact you can make by dedicating one day to this worthy cause!

By banding together with other Pioneers you will be rewarded with the satisfaction of knowing you are making a difference. In addition, you'll meet other like-minded people, become better acquainted with your natural surroundings, learn about ocean conservation issues, and have lots of fun!

2008 Event

September 20, 2008

Telephone Pioneers joined with thousands of other volunteers to clean the beaches and shores of Washington waterways in September 2008.

Once again the rains held off and while the skies were overcast it was perfect weather for cleaning the beaches. Our area was the main beach entrance and south for ninth tenths of a mile, normally one of the most littered area. In 2008 we were pleased that while there was quite a lot of trash there were no hazardous materials and we were able to leave a lovely looking beach..

Each year, hundreds of thousands of people descend upon beaches, lakes, and streams all over the world to remove trash and debris on land and under the water. Volunteers of all ages from every continent form this magnificent event, the largest one-day volunteer event on behalf of clean oceans and waterways.
