Date: Sat, 08 Oct From: "Cindy J" Dr Phil,I can't help but comment on today's lecture with Dr F.Adu Febiri. It really was a point that in Canada we have such a long way to go with racial equality and discrimination. When I asked about religious discrimination in our Canadian history? I was really thinking about our discrimination towards other than our own country? as I do remember the french canadian issues! with the Roman Catholic church, but when the Québec & Jewish history was mentioned I nearly fell over.. I had somehow repressed that knowledge?I felt so dissapointed in my country. There is so many points that I hope the students of this generation get and some of the biggest are from today's lecture: Race as a concept makes no scientific sense we are all 99.9% similar. There is STILL..a racial stigma in Law, the Court system and in the Criminal Justice system in Canada today."Racialization of crime is developed primarily by police but communicated and perpetuated by the Canadian media" (Henry) which brings me to the point of Ideology, Discourse, Practice... It must bring Ideology,Recourse,Action!!and I can't stop thinking of the quote from Alfred Hitchcock saying "I'm not Against the Police I'm just Afraid of Them"...A Hopeful optimist & Idealist... Sincerely Cindy J
