- The American Self-Help Group Clearinghouse ''Self-Help Group Sourcebook Online'' provides a truly amazing database of self-help groups of all kinds. Not all of these are available in the Seattle area, but many of them look like they could be very useful contacts.
- www.counselingseattle.com provides quite a bit of useful information. Particularly notable is a list of Seattle-area counselors who can counsel in languages other than English. Also, for the mental health consumer who is confused by the mysterious initials that often follow practitioner names, their Dictionary of Initials, Acronyms and Abbreviation used by Counselors and Social Workers should be useful. They also have a small FAQ of questions from mental health consumers.
- The Seattle Counselors Association has some listings of counselors.
- Counsellor Patricia McKee maintains a reasonably worthwhile web site about her practice.
- Wetware Wizard doesn't quite live up to its self-description as an "e-zine", but it does have some useful articles about psychotherapy, stress, assertiveness, etc.
- BPDWORLD, based in Britain, has an extensive site about borderline personality disorder (BPD), depression, schizophrenia, etc. It is a useful source of information about these various conditions, but be aware that any information about laws and resources is oriented toward the UK, not the US.
- We'd love additional appropriate listings here! Know of any? We will gladly list web sites of local Seattle-area mental health professionals, as long as the site consists of more than just self-promotion. We will also willingly provide listings for local counselors who are willing to take on sliding scale clients.
