Ronald Bog is named after a local land owner, and former Seattle Mayor, Ronald Judge. In the 1950's this bog was mined for its valuable peat, creating the sharp corners, little or no wading area and open water. The water is a dark color characteristic of peat water.
Domesticated geese and wild ducks, such as shovelers, gadwells, lesser scaups and mallards often use this site, as well as other wildlife.
