interested in learning Chinese and about traditional culture, this material
is free to use but we reserve the copyright. If you would like to help
support the program, donations to the mailing address above will be
appreciated.
The
Chinese Cultural Learning Series covers:
- Language: pronunciation,
sentence patterns, and conversation.
- Literature: modern
Chinese and classical Chinese.
- Philosophy: covers
the original text, such as Yi Jing (the Book of Changes), Taoist classics
(Laozi, Zhuangzi, Liezi), Confucian classics (Kongzi, Mengzi), Buddhist
classics (Amitabha Sutra, Heart Sutra, Chan Quotations) and many
others.
Each
text will be covered from these aspects:
- The Content: Explains
the text selected from and the meaning of the words.
- Author: Introduces
the author's life, work, masterpieces, and position in history.
- Text: with pinyin
romanization, complicated characters, simplified characters, word by word
English meaning, reordering translation.
- Appreciation: explaining
the important points of the text, and how to learn from it.

site is very new, so most of its content is still in our heads. You
can influence what comes out by letting us know what types of things you
would most like to learn how to say and/or read in Chinese, and what means
of learning is most enjoyable for you (lots of graphics? sound files?).
