Dancing was Trump

Our CC members came from all over, but especially from Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner, Olympia, even Portland, to celebrate a special Xmas dinner-dance in the Puyallup Elks Lodge. The big success proved that all our members from the 'South' appreciated it very much that they didn't have to go so very far, for a change; that instead all Seattlelites drove and got lost, and drove still further, until they reached the beautifully decorated Lodge.

The lavish buffet was superb, the speeches of membership chairman Maria Hicks and President Heidi Herrmann enlightening, especially for all those members of the Puyallup Elks Club who shared the evening with the Continental Club. They gave a lovely performance of ballroom dances which was followed by a program of the CC Folkdance group 'Enzian' under the leadership of Eric Kuboth. Robert Grass accompanied the folk dancers on his zither and Hans Furtner on his accordion. The pretty dresses of the girls were 'home-made'.

We have to thank CC director Kurt Röhl and club manager John Coombs for the lovely evening, because it was their idea. Special thanks to the Puyallup Elks who let us share their cosy lodge with them and to the hostesses, who were all volunteers. Dancing was trump, especially after the Gary and Diane Trio took over.
