Personal background

I have been dancing since 1978. The first dance I learned was the hustle, which was popular during the disco era. After my initiation into partner and jazz dancing, I tried out for and became a member of a jazz/ballroom performance troupe in Washington, D.C. I taught and performed many styles of dance in the D.C. area before my career in the U.S. Coast Guard caused me to be transferred. D.C. was a great town for dancing, but I found one better, here in Seattle, during the latter part of my Coast Guard career. In 1994, I retired from the Coast Guard and settled in the Seattle area.

I danced three years with the Savoy Swing Club Performance troupe and four years with the Seaside Pavilion Historic Dance Troupe. I was the first President of the Savoy Swing Club during their first organizational year.

I have had many years of lessons & workshops in various forms of dance, including folk dance. My experience also includes many years of teaching dance, from exercise classes at health clubs to ballroom & swing. I have been a performing member of Enzian Schuhplattler since 1996, and I must say this has become my favorite performance dance style. I enjoy attending Bavarian dance festivals with my dance partner and wife, Kathy. I continue to study on my own to enhance my German culture experience.

I have been Vorplattler of Enzian Schuhplattler since I was elected in 2000.

I can be reached via email.
