It is hard to believe that this October (2012), I will have been a member of Enzian Schuhplattler for six years. I have always loved music of all kinds, but my exposure to dance was very limited. Seven years ago, however, I began dating a great German man, and I quickly learned that he was completely involved with this dance group. I began attending social events with him and quickly realized what a great group of people were part of this group. Many of these social events involved dancing and the more that I danced, the more I began to enjoy it. Initially, I didn’t even waltz, but found many members who were willing to take the time to help me learn. I often attended performances and was the one to watch purses and take pictures. At some point, however, I came to the realization that it would be much more fun to just dance. I began attending practices and eventually performed, as well. The group has become like family; I love dressing in Tracht and I am really proud to be part of this group.
