Esperanto:

-- is the neutral second language (not a replacement for a native language) through which all citizens of the globe may communicate on an equal footing. There is no inherent one-up one-down in the medium of exchange.

-- takes about 1/5th the time to learn that other languages take. Personal, postal, or email instruction is free, or you can self-teach.

-- has been used, with steady growth, in more than 80 countries for the last 100 years, most intensively in Asia and Eastern Europe, and has spread to include Western Europe, Central and South America, Africa, and the Middle East. There is literally a world of like-minded citizens with whom you can network through correspondence and through visits during travel, developing bonds that will affect many more than the people you directly get to know.

-- opens up to you over 200 Esperanto periodicals of worldwide circulation and thousands of books of both original and translated literature from all over the world.

-- was originally designed to allow people of all nationalities to work directly with each other for world peace, but functions as well for the pure fun of common interests from art to vegetarianism.
