General Information

Begun in 1995, with the publication of Joannie Kervran's A Steady Longing for Flight, Floating Bridge Press awards an annual Poetry Chapbook Award to the best chapbook submitted to an open competition for Washington State poets.

The winning poet currently receives a minimum of $500; 15 copies of a perfect-bound, archival-quality chapbook; local promotion and distribution of the winning chapbook; and a featured reading in the Seattle area. Three or four finalists receive $50 and are also featured at the winner's reading.

All entrants are considered for inclusion in Pontoon, a Floating Bridge Press poetry anthology. In addition, we have occasionally produced broadsides of selected poems. See the guidelines for deadlines and manuscript format.
