we will distribute flyers to people at Feed on Sunday about move as well as talk about it
Steve: prob'ly first cop visit will be a warning; 2nd & 3rd may be threatening poss. block us or confiscate food if we get harassed, with adequate publicity, it will help to attract more people to FNB. We should think about channelling that PE into:
1) more feeds
2) more politicized actions

Chris F. mentioned that Gentry, writer of previous RealChange article will be down with us on Sunday for a follow-up. we've been getting more calendar items posted, including a backhanded one in Eat the State! Chris S. has a news friend at KOMO who is interested, esp. if we are experiencing conflict with the police; he'll keep her posted re best opp'ty

NATIONAL DAY OF POLICE BRUTALITY
Chris S. went to info meeting; it's clearly sponsored by RCP; there's a sponsor fee. some asstd discussion; we will feed at it

RETURN TO OCCIDENTAL PARK
Mike gave rundown on permit runaround; basically it's unavailable. Justin called the King Co re permit who literally transferred him back to the Parks dept. who told him that no permit was available & that feeding anywhere else than @ 4th & Cherry would lead to a rat & pigeon problem ML, Benjamin & Chris F. will bring cameras Steve & Justin gave a "Being Arrested 101" spiel Steve will work on a press release

FUNDS
Chris F will call Marcia re: amount we owe her & will pay it we need to return the smaller table & Justin will be looking for tables at thrift stores
Steve said we need more buckets; Justin sd there were plenty at a Japanese restaurant on Rainier
Chris S asked about us registering as a 501(c)3; Steve sd the National org. is & that chapters can borrow that status

HOMELESS ORGANIZING
Mike sd he was talking to a Real Change vendor about it

STORAGE
Steve's garage goes bye-bye after this month (as does he); Justin sez he WILL have some space in Oct.. Whatever, we do need a new space for storage of perishables & the fridge

PCC Grant:
Jenny reported that it was finished & sent in.

OCCIDENTAL PARK
Last feed on Sunday we experienced some harassment. Poss. scenario includes a ticket with fine. poss. confiscate. We didn't get names or badge #s. Marsha mentioned that when we were last at the Park there was one bike cop that especially harassed us...she didn't know his name or #. Marsha talked to Mayor Rice on a radio talk show & he said that people can't serve food anwhere b/c it would cause a garbage problem. Mike will call the Mayor's Office to complain about harassment; Laura will work on a press release in the advent of future problems; Chris F will work on 1/4 page flyers & make a copy of the Park Codes to have on hand for Feeds.

STORAGE:
We need to try & move the rest of the stuff from Steve's garage. Jenny can take the grains; Chris F can take a lot more of the stuff. No idea what to do with the fridge

DAY TO END POLICE BRUTALITY
We're not doing it. We called to say that we would feed but not sponsor it; they've never gotten back to us.

NIKE THING
There's a protest in Oly on Sunday at a Nike-sponsored golf tournament. FNB/Oly seems moribund & non reponsive to calls

IWW LOCAL NEWSLETTER
There was a paragraph that reported that we were "working with a RCPfront group". Justin called writer to complain about this inaccuracy & sorta slur

CASSINI PROBE
goes boom. Launch window is now 10/6-13. There will be a protest at Westlake on Sat. 1-4: Mlou, Chris S & Justin will serve bagels & hummus; meeting at Mike's to prepare at 10. Tabling is hoped to ensue

UNFREE TRADE TOUR
We have a place: Real Change offices; Sat 10/11; doors open at 7:30/being at 8. Justin will get a mailing list & send off 100-150 posters about it, poss. Thur pm. Chris F will send out publicitity notices; Justin's cugina might pop for a keg; Benjamin sez we can get a banquet permit from the State Liquor offices; we'll table & hopefull might get some stuff from SFfnb (Marcia will look into this)

$$$$
Chris S wants to do some tabling...this was left unsettled. We'll try to put cans out: Mlou will put one in the Black Cat; Justin will put one in the Globe; Mike will put one in Left Bank; Chris S will get a box for the Green Tortoise

II: Christmas Serving -
* We won't be able to serve the Sunday after Christmas because most of us will be out of town.

* We voted to cancel the 12/28 feed.
* Laura volunteered to call the PCC and Hostel to let them

know we will not be feeding.

III: Christmas Party -
* It was suggested that we throw a Food Not Bombs Christmas party
* Many people couldn't make it during the designated date (12/13) so we voted it down.
* Jenny Hunt, however, is having a New Year's Eve Party and invited everyone.

IV: Need for Better Communication - Eric Dee started discussion. * Keep with vision - why are we doing this? Remind ourselves of our why we are out there. * Food Not Bombs is a revolutionary movement not just a mere charity

* Rallies are necessary to spread the word
* We are the only group that serves at Rallies - and the
only one that has a food pantry.
* Kris E - suggested tabling at punk rock concerts. He
volunteered to do that.
* We need to keep focus on collective decision making
* Volunteers need to be more proactive and follow through
on tasks they volunteer to do.
* Michela suggested that set up a Speak Easy account which

all volunteers could access. Laura B volunteered to put in $10 a month towards that account.

V: Hostel - Clean up after ourselves
* Justin has heard of complaints from the Hostel that we are not cleaning up after cooking.

VI: Food Pantry -
* Group volunteered to start doing this every month starting in January. We identified the last Saturday of every month to begin this.
* Laura stressed the need for more transportation resources. For pick up and delivery

VII: Thank you Notes -
* Eric Dee suggested that we give thank you cards to grocers and community in-kind support.
* Justin said he would ask Ursula and Tim to make some Food Not Bombs Cards

VIII: Health Department Meeting - Laura B. discussed * Chris Flanagan contacted Gary Irvine, of the Health Department, and asked Laura B to go meet with him.

* Laura met with them on Thursday 12/3/97.
* Pointed out various health codes we are not following and
suggested that we implement some of these suggestions.
* Identified about $200 worth of modifications and fees
from the health department to get up to code.
* The group voted not to give any money to the state.
