1998 Town Meeting Debate
SCN Association board member Aki Namioka participated in a debate about federally mandated Internet filtering for schools and libraries on May 17, 1998 on KOMO TV 4's Town Meeting. Internet filtering/blocking activist Donna Rice Hughes and Senator Patty Murray, a co-sponsor of Senator McCain's Internet School Filtering Act (S. 1619), advocated the controversial measure, while Aki and American Library Association president-elect Ann Symons opposed it.
