Fremont's Summer Solstice Parade is one of the highlights of Seattle's social calendar--a celebration of community, creativity, and spirit in tune with the changing seasons. The Parade's route is marked through downtown Fremont by the beautiful fork-tailed Solstice Banners placed by the Fremont Arts Council, producers of the Solstice Parade.
The banners were produced by Arts Council member Norma Baum, based on a design by the late Dave McKay. They are sturdily attached to utility poles by metal brackets and add a festive touch to funky Fremont all summer long. Banners may be purchased from the Fremont Arts Council for $50 each plus shipping and handling. Proceeds benefit this nonprofit, grass-roots community organization.
