The Fremont Solstice Parade celebrates the return of Summer and the warmth and frenzied energy of the warm season. Veronica Truffat, a long-time Arts Council maven, was our Sun Goddess in the '97 parade, riding her winged float complete with Mayan pyramid and ascending sun, dancers in gold lame and fringe, and a Lizard King demanding the sacrifice of a virgin (or else the Sun would go away again.) Perhaps more than any other on these pages, this photo embodies the high energy of the Summer Solstice Parade.
