Laura Baumwall has been parading with us since 1994. Here she is as the Giant Peacock in the '97 Solstice Parade, in an elaborate costume she fashioned from bamboo, fabric, and real peacock plumes. Fully extended, her tail feathers span 8 feet from side to side!
Like many of the Fremont Arts Council's members, Laura is active on lots of fronts, most visibly as our very effective chief fund-raiser for the Solstice Parade. She was our Mother Earth in the '99 Parade, enthroned on a planetary float and surrounded by dancing trees! Laura also performed in Taiwan as part of our cultural embassy to the National Day celebrations in Taipei in '98. Through it all, Laura manages to keep the spirit of creative mischief alive, stay loose, and monkey around a bit.
