The Fremont Solstice Parade is held every year on the Saturday nearest the Summer Solstice; in 1999 it will be on June 19. Begun in 1989, it is the signature event of the Fremont Arts Council. The Parade was the brainchild of Barbara Luecke and Peter Toms, inspired by a celebration they had been part of in Santa Barbara before moving to Seattle.

Here, mostly decked in their parade finery, are some of the major luminaries and High Mucky-mucks of the Fremont Arts Council on their favorite day of the whole year, when, with the Mad Hatter, all Fremonsters* can truly say, "We're all mad here!"

The people shown on this web page are all multi-talented Renaissance people. They wear many hats within the Arts Council and in the community. The descriptions on their individual pages sketch in a few details of their doings in Fremont, and are not intended as definitive listings of their exploits.

*Fremonsters: People, trolls, mischievous spirits, etc. who like to play around in Fremont. While their favorite stomping ground is Fremont, Fremont is, after all, only a state of mind.
