The annual Horizon Crest Community Association SPRING CLEANUP will be held on Saturday, May 10th.
This is a great opportunity to meet some of your neighbors and help make our neighborhood look it's best!
As a free service to all residents of Horizon Crest, the Community Association has arranged for two large yard waste bins for your use! On the east side, the bin will be near the corner of 159th Pl. SE and SE 50th St. On the west side, the bin will be near the corner of SE 48th Dr. and 151st Pl. SE. Remember, these bins are for YARD WASTE ONLY (but please do not deposit logs or tree stumps). The bins will be delivered on Thursday, May 8th, and will be removed on Monday, May 12th. (Bin locations and dates are subject to change.)
If you need help hauling yard debris from your yard to a bin, please call the number in the printed newsletter before May 10th to reserve a time. Scott Bigham has volunteered his truck and 4x8 trailer to help haul yard debris to the dumpsters.
If the big bins are full, you can put out more than just your large yard waste barrel for the regular pickup! Be sure that limbs are not more than four inches in diameter and not more than about feet long. Tie them in bundles that don't weigh more than 60 pounds. The regular pickup day is the following Wednesday (5/14), so you can just leave your bundles, paper bags, and barrels of yard waste right at the curb on Saturday!
We're looking for volunteers to help with the maintenance of the islands! Just show up with your own tools at an island near you at 9AM on cleanup day and just dig-in! Pull weeds, plant flowers, trim overgrown plants, whatever you think needs to be done to make the island look it's best!
This is also an opportunity to cleanup leftover storm damage, and maybe get a hand from a neighbor! Or, if you see a neighbor in need, give them a hand!

| As of Wednesday, April 30th, we have received 93 dues payments. That's 40.8% of all Horizon Crest households. | |
| This year, we have ten new members who had not joined in prior years. | |
| We have 70% more members in 1997 than in 1996! | |
| There are still 13 members from 1995 or 1996 who have not paid their dues for 1997! If just those prior members pay their dues, well reach the 100-member mark with ease! | |
| Dues for 1997 were due by January 31, 1997, but weve had such a great response that were extending the deadline to May 31st! Members as of that date will receive a copy of the Community Association Roster (to be published this summer) at no additional cost! |
Please mail the payment coupon from the December or February newsletter (if you still have it), with your check (payable to the Horizon Crest Community Association) for $20 to the address in the printed newsletter.
If you have already sent in your payment, thank you for your timely response, and thank you for joining HCCA!

Don't forget, the speed limit on all streets within Horizon Crest is a maximum of 25 MPH (or slower if necessary).
Stop signs always mean stop, even when you're in a hurry.
Remove toys, bikes, and sports equipment from streets and sidewalks when done playing!
Do you have plant growing over the edge of the sidewalk?
Do trees or hedges near your sidewalk block the clear passage of pedestrians?
The City of Bellevue requires residents to keep the sidewalks clear! Most Horizon Crest homeowners keep their landscaping clear of the sidewalk, but a growing number of homes have progressed to an unsatisfactory (and illegal) condition.
Walk along the sidewalk and street that abuts your property Do you have full access to the entire sidewalk? Do you need to move out of the way of hedges, tree limbs, debris, or groundcover? If so, please take the time to trim back the offending plantings.
After Neighborhood Cleanup Day, an HCCA committee will survey the neighborhood and subsequently notify homeowners with plantings that block the rights-of-way on the sidewalk. About a month later, the City of Bellevue will be asked to step in and enforce Bellevue City Code Section 14.06.010. Failure to comply with this provision of the BCC can result in up to a $300 fine by the City, as well as a bill from the department that subsequently performs the work.
Also, remember that it's illegal to park your car on the sidewalk! That includes leaving a portion of your car blocking the sidewalk from your driveway!
