Jeanne Edgmand is an Internet Project Manager for Excell Data and has been working in the electronic commerce arena for the past two years. During an 8 year stint at Boeing, Jeanne fell in love with the internet while doing her MBA. After completing her degree, she decided to leave the big company life behind and move on to smaller and better things, working at two e-commerce related companies, called Online Interactive and ImageX.

Jeanne's focus on the Internet is also expressed through her volunteer efforts. She currently is the co-leader of the Washington Software Alliance (WSA) Internet Business Special Interest Group, responsible for planning the topics and recruiting speakers for their monthly meetings. She is also very active in the Seattle chapter of Webgrrls, an electronic community of females interested in learning and sharing Internet technology. She also served on the AWC/PS board for two years as Database Liaision. http://www.excell.com

Luticia Hill, co-founded Sitewerks, an Internet development company, in 1994. With her strong background with large information systems, she helped lead the company to great success, which was widely recognized in the high-tech arena. Sitewerks was recently acquired by Bowne & Company, an established financial printing organization, who also recognized the core competency within Sitewerks as a means to reposition Bowne for the future.

Prior to founding Sitewerks, she was on the senior management team of One Half Turn Multimedia. She was also a multimedia and Internet producer for both US West and Microsoft. Tish's experience with large systems analysis and database design allows her to participate in all elements of solution design for large clients. At Sitewerks, now named Bowne Internet Solutions, Tish provides corporate strategy, participates in building strategic alliances and leads new business development. Tish has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Systems Analysis from the University of Victoria. http://www.sitewerks.com

Liza Leif is the technical writer in the engineering department of iCat Corporation, a leading developer of e-commerce software. Liza participated in the development of iCat's Commerce Online product, attending meetings and providing ongoing documentation support. Recently, she started an "e-shopping" special interest group (an off-shoot of Webgrrls) to brainstorm the "soft-side" of e-commerce -- the shopper experience, and marketing and merchandising for online stores -- two areas she believes remain largely unaddressed in current e-commerce technology.

In the past year Liza has seen the focus of iCat change from creating e-commerce tools for developers to creating a "do-it-yourself" store creation process for merchants. She believes that eventually that focus will change to seeing the shopper as the originator of the income stream. (Where is that money?)

Liza holds ideas about what features need to be a part of the shopper's experience, and how to reach customers. Some of the changes need to be implemented at the development level, and some of the changes must be made by the merchants (who will show them the way?). There are many theories for success, including the whole "portal" idea and the Amazon.com model. What are the essential elements for e-commerce success?

Lastly, Liza especially wants to encourage the participation of more women in the development of e-commerce solutions. She would like to extend an invitation for the meeting participants to consider applying to work directly for iCat, or to sign on as development partners, to whom we can refer merchants who need assistance in creating their Web stores. http://www.icat.com
