Next Meeting:  The Future of the Wireless Web
Meeting Overview:

In order to effectively manage the wireless world, today's companies must have a service that enables them to take advantage of today's wireless technology. Industry analysts forecast that there will be over 1 billion wireless service subscribers worldwide by 2002, and that many of these subscribers will use wireless devices as their primary means to access the Web. Discover what it takes in order for the wireless Web to be successful, about the types of platforms that are being used, the competition between them, who is using them, and more importantly who SHOULD use them and why.

Our speaker will be Justin Webb, Chief Strategist of ViAir, Inc. Webb's primary goal is to develop ViAir's overall product and service strategy. Before joining ViAir, Webb acted as Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President for Hansol PCS in Seoul, Korea. Webb was responsible for technology planning and development, R&D, engineering, operations, and all product management for Hansol's nationwide CDMA network. Before that, Webb was the Vice President of Data Services for Sprint PCS, where he delivered Sprint's data and messaging products and services to market. In addition, Webb has launched more than a dozen successful products ranging from short messaging services to roadside assistance products to voice activated dialing.

ViAir, Inc., a wireless Web applications infrastructure company based in Seattle, Washington, has developed a carrier quality platform that enables mobile end-users to access and act on their most valued information and events instantly and intelligently.

Attend the Pink Slip Party after the Feb AWC/PS Meeting :

www.seattlejobs.org has collaborated with Seattle Network (www.seattlenetwork.com ) to sponsor the first Seattle Pink Slip Party at the high tech in-spot, I Spy. The Tuesday evening event is for those who have been pink slipped, down sized, feeling vulnerable, or downright folded to come together. It's a party so hoist a cold one and swap dotcom war stories while networking with those who are hiring. Pink Slip Parties have proven to be an effective networking and commiserating mechanism in New York, Denver and the Bay Area.

www.seattlejobs.org is a consortium of 90 local high tech companies committed to pooling resources and establishing recruiting best practices in a non-competitive spirit. This highly successful and innovative organization was formed six years ago and was the first of it's kind in the US. The group came together at a time when there were no other recruiting resources or organizations available for small- to mid-sized software companies. Seattle Network (www.seattlenetwork.com ) was formed to provide monthly networking opportunities for Seattle high-techprofessionals. Now some of the premier high tech companies in the Northwest will be available to all from 6-9pm on February 20th at I Spy, 1921 Fifth Avenue, in downtown Seattle.
