Next Meeting:  Making your E-commerce Initiative a Success

Meeting Overview:

E-commerce is a front page news on major publications worldwide - from Forbes, InfoWorld and Fast Company magazine to the local newspaper. Join us in welcoming the founders of Foci Technologies, a Seattle-based B2B solution provider, for a timely discussion on a hot topic! Learn the strategies for success in this exciting field.

Foci delivers Internet applications to small and medium sized businesses - with an emphasis on fast deployment and customized service. The company provides system integration, web-site development, and site hosting. Some of Foci's clients include the Gary Locke Election Campaign, Clark County and Taco Bell.

Matthew Ma and James Wong, who started Foci in 1996, will address:

  • getting started and pitfalls to avoid
  • best practices
  • ASP's: to host or not, how to choose a good one

Matthew Ma, CEO of Foci, has worked in information technology for 10 years. During college, he developed financial applications for New York State and Cornell Cooperative Extension. He was also part of the development team for CorSim - the largest population simulator in existence - funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH), the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Cancer Research Institute. As a financial consultant at Arthur Andersen, Mr. Ma led the electronic evidence discovery and analysis of a $1.1 billion trade fraud. At Foci Technologies, he developed an Internet-based proof of concept that has successfully served clients such as Taco Bell, Arthur Andersen and Iomega.

James Wong, president of Foci, has had hands-on experience with information technology for over eight years. He was an integration specialist for Chevron's Corporation's implementation of SAP. As a financial markets analyst at Arthur Andersen, Mr. Wong oversaw complete audits of financial institutions such as Credit Suisse and Sanwa Bank. At Foci Technologies, he pioneered the exchange server specialization. His focus on groupware systems for large organizations resulted in Foci Technologies' certification as a Microsoft Solutions Provider. His division served clients such as Clark County Department of Public Works, Arthur Anderson Financial Consulting Services and Intel Corporation.
