The $1000 year 2000 scholarship was awarded to Jan Edwards who is
taking academic computer science courses at North
Seattle Community College. Jan's previous career was in
laboratory science in medical, biotech and veterinary fields.
Due to the many changes with the onset of managed care
in the medical arena Jan decided to pursue a new career.
Jan also desired a career with greater intellectual
challege and also opportunities for creative satisfaction.
Jan plans to transfer to the University of Washington
graduate school in Biomedical Information/Bioinformatics
for the 2001/2002 academic session. At NSCC she
has earned a programming certificate and maintained a 3.8
GPA throughout her studies. She is this year's AWC secretary
and the Phi Theta Kappa (honor society at NSCC)
Communications Officer. All of us at AWC congratulate Jan on
her accomplishments and wish her good luck and much
success in her new career. In addition to the scholarship
money awarded Jan, she will also receive one year's membership
