I’ve always loved reading adventure
stories and imagined that one day I’ll be the main character in one.
Therefore, in a search for my adventure, I seize every opportunity to travel
and have visited a few countries so far.

| It is hard to find a buried treasure
or to come up face to face with life-threatening dangers while your travel
comrades are a bunch of old ladies and gentlemen, armed with cameras and
sandwiches. And instead of a captain there’s the humble tourist guide,
who’s terrified by the idea of losing a sheep out of his sight |
.
| But what I’ve learned of my travels
is that generally there’s a lot of misunderstanding and illiteracy going
around. Language barriers prevent people of seeing clearly and they are
still being blinded by prejudice and misleading information. |

..
| In my opinion the work of translators
is to draw this curtain of misperception and tear it apart. I’d be satisfied
if what I do manages to create even a small hole in it, for the light to
come in. |
