Think of community networks as community projects
- Involve the entire community
- Build the system on local needs using local people and
organizations as co-developers
- Support civic society and civic values (the "radical center")
- Develop collaborative projects and partnerships with civic
organizations and institutions
- Build a community of community network developers - all over the
world!

Think of community networks as part of social movements
- Universal access to communication infrastructure
- Focus on the underserved, economically disenfranchised
- Opposition to media concentration
- Support of diverse, alternative, marginalized voices
- Push principles, concerns, issues!!
