The Urban Inn Next Door

Standing in the entry of (Pacifica) Rooms, I felt my blood pressure drop. This new urban inn has a soothing vintage elegance, and is surprisingly serene despite being close to bustling neighbors.

Owner Devin Swanson shows the eight rooms with obvious pride. Fresh flowers, interesting furnishings, beautiful woodwork, and leaded glass windows all work together to create an inviting mood.

When asked if breakfast is a part of the deal, Swanson’s eyes twinkle. “Elaborate” is his one-word description of the meal provided all guests. Special catered dinners are also an option. Several weddings have been booked, as well as groups gathering for intimate conversation and drinks.

What about the noise? Swanson says that the midmorning gospel music on Sunday wafting from the church next door is the only neighborhood sound to be heard by guests, which lends itself well to the ambience.

What a great place for those out-of-town guests or, better yet, a romantic weekend without the long drive.
