Irish Northern Aid Committee

- What We Are About -

"A united voice of Irish-American support for freedom and justice in Ireland
and a powerful weight on the side of peace, the Irish Northern Aid Committee
plays a major role in promoting self-determination and
reconciliation in Ireland."

-Gerry Adams

For thirty years, the Irish Northern Aid Committee has provided American support for the Irish Republican
movement through lobbying, educational outreach and financial assistance for the families of those imprisoned
or killed for their political beliefs. Working with the charitable trusts An Cumann Cabhrach in Dublin
and the Green Cross in Belfast, INA has continually helped those people most directly affected by
the colonial occupation of the six counties of north-eastern Ireland. An all-volunteer organization with
local units throughout the country, INA has worked with other cultural, human rights, and labor organizations
to bring about a united and democratic Ireland, independent and free.

Today, Irish Northern Aid continues the struggle towards a united Ireland and works closely with the
Republican movement in Ireland to help those who gave all they had for the cause of Irish freedom.
Through Coiste na n-Iarchimí (The Ex-Prisoners' Committee), we provide financial support for
organizations which aid ex-POWs and their families in finding appropriate job training and personal
counseling and fighting the social and economic discrimination they face because of their status as
veterans. We continue to assist the families of current Republican political prisoners as well as the families of
volunteers who have died for their country.

The Irish Northern Aid Committee works to raise awareness of British misrule in Ireland by highlighting the
colonial and sectarian nature of partition, the abuses of the human rights of the residents of the six counties, the
right of the Irish people to national self-determination, and the British military, economic and political
occupation that is at the root of the ongoing conflict in Ireland. Membership in INA is open to men and women
of all backgrounds who desire to see peace with justice in Ireland. Through local, national and international
campaigns, INA has been at the forefront in supporting the Republican movement throughout the past three
decades. Irish Northern Aid is the voice in America for the ordinary people of the occupied six counties who
might not otherwise be heard.
