Northwest Chamber Chorus

Mark Kloepper, Music Director

A Season of New Beginnings
2006-2007

In the first season with our new Music Director, Mark Kloepper, we’ll rekindle our passion and reaffirm our commitment to presenting compelling programs of the finest choral music. As we begin our musical collaboration, we’ll explore the ways in which people begin to bond with each other. As our connections grow, we’ll look at where we’ve come from and where we’re headed.

Mother & Child

Saturday, December 2, 2006  7:30 pm   Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, Seattle

Sunday, December 3, 2006  3:00 pm    Plymouth Congregational Church, downtown Seattle

Saturday, December 9, 2006   7:30 pm    Saint Thomas Episcopal, Medina

Through the ages, artists have been inspired by the intimacy of a mother and child. Our first program will have at its heart this most personal of relationships. Gorecki’s haunting Totus Tuus will be featured, along with the Magnificat of Richard Nance. Also featured will be works by JS Bach, Howells, Tavener, Grieg, and Bortniansky.

…Where the Heart Is

Saturday, March 17, 2007  7:30 pm   Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, Seattle

Sunday, March 18, 2007  3:00 pm    Plymouth Congregational Church, downtown Seattle

What is "home?" Is it a place or a feeling? Is it a castle or a sanctuary? Is it bricks or a spirit? Our search for answers will take us from the USA to England, Australia, Ireland, South America, Latvia, Nova Scotia, and Heaven and Earth. Our tour guides will include Brahms, Verdi, Tavener, Alf Houkam, Randall Thompson, Moses Hogan, and Northwest composers Joan Szymko and Diane Loomer.

Passion, Then and Now

Saturday, June 2, 2007  7:30 pm   Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, Seattle

Sunday, June 3, 2007  3:00 pm    Plymouth Congregational Church, downtown Seattle

We are bound together by our passion for music. That passion is the power behind all that we do with each other. In June, we’ll look back at our communal roots and then we’ll look forward, to our collective musical future. Half of the pieces on this concert are expressive favorites from our past concerts. The other half will include new selections suggested by Chorus members — pieces they’ve always wanted to sing — pieces infused with their personal passion.

Programs are subject to change.
