The Northwest Geological
Society (NWGS), based in Seattle, Washington, provides an
educational forum for the presentation and discussion of a wide range
of geologic topics, emphasizing those of the Pacific Northwest or of
fundamental scientific interest.
NWGS is a regional association of roughly 250 professionals,
students, retirees, and other persons interested in the field of
geology. Our membership includes geologists from private consulting
firms, government agencies, academia, and also a significant number
of non-geologists (that form an important part of our group). Members
range in age from teenagers to octogenarians. Approximately 20- to-
25 percent of our members are students. NWGS is a non-profit
corporation, registered with the State of Washington and the Internal
Revenue Service. Membership is open to
anyone.
Philosophy of the NWGS web site: This site strives to be a
regional resource of Northwest geological information--attempting to
gather information and key Internet reference links in one location.
The site format is non-commercial and non-political. Graphics are
limited to allow members with slow modem connections relatively quick
page loading. We welcome submissions and recommendations to this web
site. This web site was established in
1998 by Dave Knoblach, Webmaster.
This web site is generously hosted by the Seattle Community Network, a free public-access computer network based in the Seattle Public Library.
