The Puget Sound Welsh Association (PSWA)

was formed to coordinate several existing local Welsh groups. The Seattle Welsh Women's Club joined with Dosbarth Cymraeg, "Welsh Language Learners" class in Seattle and Côr Cymraeg Seattle, Seattle Welsh Choir", in 1984, under a new flag, which bears a Red Dragon (Y Ddraig Goch) rampant upon a field vert within the State of Washington. Later, two other groups, the folk band Band y Ddraig Goch, "Red Dragon Band" and Dawnswyr Dewi Sant, "St. David's Dancers" were sponsored by PSWA.  Gweithdy Crefftiau Cymreig (Welsh Crafts Workshop) was started in 1992 to make Welsh-oriented crafts to sell.

PSWA successfully promotes and sponsors Welsh cultural and educational activities for the Puget Sound area. The society and its clubs participate in many ethnic fairs and Celtic festivals. Each year, the local music scene is enriched by Welsh music at the traditional St. David's Day celebration in March, the annual Gymanfa Ganu (Hymn Singing Festival) in October, the Christmas Concert, and other public performances by Band y Ddraig Goch (inactive) and Côr Cymraeg.

The Association, through its membership  and its monthly newsletter provides public information to the public, sponsoring informational exhibits at several ethnic festivals in the Puget Sound area, and by depositing information at Public Libraries. PSWA also maintains liaison with the British Consulate in order to host visiting dignitaries.

For any activity of the Puget Sound Welsh Association, neither Welsh ancestry nor prior knowledge of the Welsh language is required. All that is needed is a willingness to share a lot of fun.

PSWA is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization (501 (c)(3)). Contributions may be tax-deductible.
